We exist to help aging adults live safely and comfortably in their own homes. Our mission is rooted in respect, kindness, and dedication to improving the lives of seniors in our region.
Co-Owner, HCAN Heartland
Native Lincolnite Sarah Pappas is a true believer in kindness and making a difference. After a successful 27-year career as a corporate meeting planner, she felt called to serve others. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the elderly particularly hard, she embarked on a journey to help seniors live out their best lives at home.
With gratitude, Sarah’s life experience has prepared her to expertly care for seniors and families in Lancaster and Saunders counties while providing caregivers with an opportunity for a fulfilling career.
I feel strongly that the best place for seniors is to be in their home environment where they’re most comfortable and where they’re most familiar because they’re going to thrive at home.
Co-Owner, HCAN Heartland
Jim Christensen has spent his life building organizations rooted in one simple belief: people deserve to be cared for, supported, and treated with dignity — especially during life’s most challenging seasons.
A lifelong Omaha resident, Jim has always been deeply committed to his community and the people who call it home. Throughout his career, he has focused on creating service-driven organizations that put relationships first and help individuals and families navigate important life transitions with confidence and compassion.
That same heart for service is what led to the creation and growth of HCAN Heartland. Jim saw a growing need for families to have a trusted, local partner to help advocate for their loved ones, coordinate care, and bring clarity and peace of mind during times that can often feel overwhelming. HCAN Heartland was built to meet that need — with a focus on dignity, trust, and truly personal care.
Today, Jim remains passionate about supporting initiatives that strengthen families, empower caregivers, and improve the quality of life for those who need extra support. His leadership is grounded in listening, doing what’s right, and building organizations that serve the whole person — not just a problem to be solved.
