10 Engaging Winter Activities to Keep Seniors Active

With shorter days and colder temperatures, the winter months can feel long and isolating, especially for seniors. It’s common for older adults to experience a dip in mood and energy when it’s dreary outside. However, with a little planning, there are plenty of ways for seniors to enjoy the season while maintaining their health, well-being, and social connections.

These ten activities are excellent ways to keep seniors active and engaged throughout the winter.

1. Attend Local Community Events

Winter doesn’t mean your community shuts down. Many local organizations host senior-friendly events that provide a great reason to get out of the house. Look for concerts, holiday festivals, craft fairs, book clubs, and health fairs at community centers, libraries, or places of worship. These gatherings are perfect for socializing and learning something new.
